One two-month journey through the Australian Coast has been cancelled following the tragic passing of an elderly woman who was left behind by the cruise liner on a remote island.

The elderly woman had been trekking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the group for a pause. The ship left without her and went back several hours later after the personnel discovered the woman was unaccounted for.

A major hunt found her person the following day.

Investigative bodies are examining the incident, alongside law enforcement and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the shipping company stated that guests and personnel on the ship were informed that the continuation of the voyage had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and previous mechanical issues".

Through an announcement, he mentioned that passengers would be provided a complete reimbursement, and said the organization was working "to arrange the travel back of the travelers via chartered flights".

Authorities also issued an latest announcement, and said they had "delivered a order to the Commander" prohibiting any additional guests from entering the ship.
